Welcome to Church Street
The doctors and staff at Church Street in Dunoon are proud to offer the highest standard of patient-centred healthcare. We run many clinics for the management of chronic diseases such as asthma and diabetes and offer a wide variety of other medical services including antenatal and postnatal care, minor surgery, childhood vaccinations and well-person check-ups.
In addition to everything you need to know about the practice you will also find a wealth of health-related information in the menu on the right hand side. Please have a look around and do send us some feedback if you like.
Please note that all telephone calls are recorded
This practice has a Zero Tolerance Policy on aggressive or violent behaviour. We will not tolerate any aggressive or abusive behaviour towards our staff. Please respect them and the position they hold.
Appointment system -
We operate an appointment system where all appointments for a GP can be booked 24, 48, 72 and 96 hour's in advance. Any patient suffering from an emergency will be seen by the GP on call that day. We can not accommodate a request for a specific GP. Reception staff will ask if it is an emergency. Appointments are free to book when the telephone lines open each day from 08:30 am. Due to the demand on the practice we advise patients to call from 08:30am. We understand that some patients may find this system frustrating but we feel it is the fairest way. We would appreciate that patients do not take their anger and frustration out on our reception staff who are trying each day to provide a service and will do everything they can to assist you.
Patient telephone requests -
Between 08:30 and 10 am , the Practice deals with a very large volume of phone calls. If you are not seeking an appointment then please call reception staff after 10 am where they will be able to deal with your request. Please also note that we do not take repeat prescription requests over the telephone. Please call into the Practice or post a repeat prescription into our letterbox.
Church Street Surgery recently became a training practice for the medical students from University of Glasgow. Dr Saleem was successful in becoming a tutor for the Glasgow University medical students and he will be teaching the year 3 students at the medical school. We also will be training the future doctors in the practice and there will be a 4th or 5th year medical student attached to this practice. The student will be spending five weeks in the practice, getting to know the general practice in detail.
Due to shortage of GPs as well as failing to recruit a GP to our practice, we managed to recruit an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. Gail Ritchie is well known to patients from her previous job in our local A&E. She will be seeing patients to reduce pressure on GPs.
